What is a QR code?
QR codes (Quick Response codes) are two-dimensional barcodes invented by Denso Wave in 1994 for the automotive industry. They encode data in a matrix of black and white modules that can be read by any camera-equipped device. Today they're ubiquitous — from restaurant menus and payment systems to boarding passes and product packaging.

Error correction explained
QR codes use Reed-Solomon error correction to remain scannable even when partially damaged. The four levels — L (7%), M (15%), Q (25%), H (30%) — determine how much of the code can be lost while still being readable. Use H if you want to overlay a logo in the center, since it tolerates the most obscured area.

What is a QR code?
A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode that stores information as a pattern of black and white squares. It can encode URLs, text, contact info, Wi-Fi credentials, and more. Any smartphone camera can scan and decode a QR code instantly.
Does this tool upload my data?
No. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is sent to any server. Your data stays on your device and disappears when you close the page.
What is error correction level?
QR codes include redundancy so they can be read even when partially damaged or obscured. Low (L) recovers 7% damage, Medium (M) 15%, Quartile (Q) 25%, and High (H) 30%. Higher correction means a denser code but more resilience — use H if you plan to place a logo over the center.
Can I customize the colors?
Yes. You can set any foreground and background color. Make sure there's enough contrast between them — QR scanners need a clear difference to detect the pattern. Dark foreground on light background works best.
What formats can I download?
You can download your QR code as PNG (raster image, great for print and digital) or SVG (vector, infinitely scalable without quality loss, ideal for large prints and professional design).
How much data can a QR code hold?
A single QR code can store up to 7,089 numeric characters, 4,296 alphanumeric characters, or 2,953 bytes of binary data. For most use cases (URLs, contact cards, Wi-Fi), you'll be well within these limits.
Can I encode Wi-Fi credentials?
Yes. Use the Wi-Fi preset and format your text as: WIFI:T:WPA;S:YourNetworkName;P:YourPassword;; — when scanned, most phones will offer to connect to the network automatically.
