Typing Speed Test
Test your typing speed and accuracy. No accounts, no ads — just type.
Press Tab then Enter to restart
How it works
Pick a timed test (15–120 seconds) or a fixed word count (10–100 words), then just start typing — the timer starts on your first keystroke. Correct letters are highlighted, mistakes are marked in red, and your live WPM and accuracy update as you go.
Improve your typing speed
- Keep your eyes on the screen, not your keyboard
- Prioritize accuracy first — speed follows naturally
- Practice in short, frequent sessions rather than long ones
- Try the punctuation and numbers modes to build real-world speed
Frequently Asked Questions
How is WPM (words per minute) calculated?
WPM counts every 5 correctly-typed characters as one "word" and divides by the minutes elapsed — the standard formula used by typing tests, which avoids penalizing you for typing genuinely long or short words.
What's the difference between WPM and Raw WPM?
WPM (net) only counts correctly typed characters. Raw WPM counts everything you typed, mistakes included — it shows your raw typing speed before accuracy is factored in.
What do the colors on the text mean?
Green/default is correct, red is a mistyped character, and characters you typed beyond a word's length appear as extra red characters after it. If you press space before finishing a word, the untyped letters are marked as missed.
Is my typing data uploaded anywhere?
No. The entire test — word generation, scoring, and results — runs locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
